Passport and Goulash
By the end of today you'll recognise a Passport, and you'll have played through a full Goulash.
Everything so far has been the classical Chinese game — the foundation, and the right way to learn. But at most tables in Delhi and Gurgaon you'll meet some Indian additions. Today we learn two of them.
Passport — the easy one
Five or six different honour tiles, from the four winds and the three dragons. All of them different. That's the whole idea.
Goulash — the harder one
Played after a wash-out, when the wall runs out and nobody has won. Everyone exchanges tiles, and then the rules change.
This is where we take something away. In a Goulash, chows are not allowed — after we spent yesterday teaching them. It feels strange for everyone. It's meant to.
